Willoway Farm’s Jacqueline is bringing a Horticultural Therapy Session to Waubeka Public House’s riverside backyard on Sunday April 27th 11 am. Activities begin at 11 am should concluded close to 12:30 pm. Located N5412 Cigrand Drive, Waubeka (aka Fredonia).

Jacqueline will introduce the concept of Horticultural Therapy, history of pansies and discuss floriography with the posies’ you will create. Jacqueline has 27 years of organic gardening experience & completed an accelerated college Horticultural Therapy course with Colorado University in December 2022.

Horticultural Therapy promotes physical, cognitive, and social opportunities by allowing the activity to stimulate interaction and well being. Though it has been Jacqueline’s career choice, working with plants provided therapy during unsettling times and even happy times. Research has shown the positive effect on people of all ages benefitting from Flowers and Plants.

ACTIVITY 1:

Planting Pansies from a multiple varieties of pansy plugs in a pot.

ACTIVITY 2: Pounding Pansy blooms into Cardstock & art tools are provided to embellish the cards.

ACTIVITY 3 : Create a simple posey and discuss the Floriography aspect of the posey. Flowers such as hellebores and daffodils….

All of these creations can be petalled forward and gifted to others for Mother’s Day or simply gift to a friend or teacher. This session is lovely to do with a friend or relative.

Because this is an outdoor event please dress appropriately. Please bring your own refreshments such as water and snacks. The session should not take longer than 1.5 hours. Restroom facility is provided and their is a restaurant across the street for meals afterwards.

The cost of the workshop covers soil mix, container, plant plugs, information, some tools to use, specialty cut flowers and greenery for posey, small vase, and linen card stock plus supplies for the art to be added to your card. You as a participant walks out with 3 things.

In Leu of Inclement weather - the event will be moved indoors to Random Lake Entertainment District at their 430 1st Street Location.

• ALSO AN OPTIONAL YOGA CLASS IS AVAILABLE AT 10 am at the same location as the event. YOGAWELL with Tracy Schonenman will lead. The yoga session is an additional fee.

• Please do not hesitate to make it a real adventure- bring your own canoe and take off after our Horticultutural Session to float down to Waubedonia Park….this may also be an option with Tracy joining you - it is weather dependent. Canoes are available for rent just down the street from Waubeka Public House.
